Family rooms, kitchens, hallways, and basements can be long and broad with lower ceilings than a great room. Even with 9-foot ceilings, recessed lights are very beneficial in evenly illuminating spaces like these.

Task Lighting

These canless lights aren’t just great for general lighting; they can also be great task lights. In kitchens, for example, one switch could turn on a series of general overhead lights, and another switch could turn on task lights over countertops.

This kind of lighting could be pricey to install and difficult to maintain if placed in high ceilings. In new construction, you can talk with your home builder about the lighting design and pricing.

Lack of Artistry

Some people believe recessed lights might be going out of style because of their lack of artistry. They can appear cold and uncanny. However, with a warm lighting temperature and the right placement, they can still prove a great choice.
