If you want your home of hospitality, check out these design ideas!

Your home is ultimately the place where you feel you belong, and your house should help you live your life the way you want. If that means entertaining guests regularly, then you will want to check out these five entertaining home design ideas below for inspiration.

1. The Eat-In Kitchen

An eat-in kitchen can host a few people or many guests, depending on its size and whether it’s an open or closed kitchen. An eat-in kitchen could feature a small dining table, banquet seating, or a kitchen island with a breakfast bar, just to name a few ideas. If the kitchen is open to the living room, you have room for even more guests to flow through the space.

2. The Great Room

A great room is the main living room at the back of a house on the main floor. It usually features a high ceiling and connects to the kitchen. In some house plans, the great room is the only living area on the main floor. This communal space can be the main hub for larger or smaller gatherings.

3. The Parlor

If the main floor has two living rooms, it could be a traditional layout with a living room at the front and a family room at the back. Traditionally, the household would receive guests at the front sitting area and keep the messy kitchen hidden in the back, along with a messy family room, where the family spent time daily. Today, you could use either room or both to entertain guests.

4. The Rec Room

A recreational room is especially useful for families that like to host parties or game nights. The party and noise are kept to one room separate from the rest, usually a finished basement or secondary living room. This room could feature a wet or dry bar along with other installations (like laundry machines, a widescreen TV, etc.) for a multi-functional space.

5. The Guest Room

Hospitality extends to providing a place to stay overnight for traveling guests. When designing your new home, consider how you would make room for any guests who might stay over. It could be a separate bedroom with a private bath above your garage, or it could be a pull-out couch in the upstairs office.
